Sanity Stitching!

Needlework has been shown to reduce blood pressure and literally make your brain feel good! In this two night workshop you’ll learn how to stitch on cloth with a variety of simple stitches. We will try both freehand stitching (doodling with thread on plain cloth) and counted stitching on gridded fabric. Come learn the basics that can get you started on a relaxing, creative, meditative, and artistic hobby that you can practice for years to come! Newbies and experienced stitchers welcome. All materials provided.

This workshop meets for 2 weeks: Thursdays, September 21 & 28 from 6:30-8:30pm. $50 (2 weeks).

“Sanity Stitching” teacher Amy Ropple is a textile artist who combines her love of fabric art techniques with a serious bead addiction to create unique, highly embellished, expressive works of art. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Studio Art Education and has exhibited work locally, nationally and internationally. Her work contains images of people, places, and things she finds meaningful and important in her world, embellished to the hilt!  Additionally, Amy explores drawing, painting, collage, hand stitching, mixed media, and digital embroidery as part of living the creative life. Amy teaches Visual Art to the best, most creative and fun middle schoolers in the world at W.S. Parker Middle School, also in Reading.
